"United Nations Public Service Day 2010": MicroLearning for Public Administration
MicroLearning - learning in small steps - is increasingly appearing on the agenda of international conferences and conventions. Prof. Dr. Peter A. Bruck, CEO & Chief researcher of RSA FG, introduced the MicroLearning approach at the "United Nations Public Service Day 2010" in Barcelona, with a presentation titled "Building up the Knowledge Base for Delivering High Quality Public Service". Bruck's key message: MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse solves the biggest challenge facing employees in public administration, who are increasingly required to perform knowledge work, instead of routine work.
MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse makes learning easy with the help of information and communications technologies. It helps learners to commit knowledge to their memory, thus creating knowledge bases for entire administrative units.
Small learning steps constitute the unique value of MicroLearning. Even the most comprehensive learning subjects are split into small units and presented as learning cards. During breaks in activities, a push system ensures that the learner is offered these learning cards on his/her PC, laptop or mobile phone.
